Is root canal treatment painful?
Root canal treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you shouldn’t feel pain during the procedure itself. Most patients describe it as no more uncomfortable than having a filling, with some mild soreness for a day or two afterwards.
How long does a root canal take?
Most root canal treatments take between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on which tooth is affected and how many canals it has. More complex cases, such as molars with multiple canals, may need a second visit to complete.
Will I need a crown after my root canal?
In most cases, yes — particularly for back teeth that take more biting force. A crown protects the tooth from fracturing once the pulp has been removed, since a root-treated tooth can become more brittle over time.
Do you accept NHS patients for root canal treatment?

What happens if I don’t get a root canal?
Leaving an infected tooth untreated allows the infection to spread further into the gum and jawbone, which can lead to an abscess, increased pain and swelling, and eventually loss of the tooth. In some cases the infection can spread beyond the tooth and become a more urgent problem, so it’s best not to delay.
