They are typically placed under local anaesthesia and take as little as 30-60 minutes depending on the location and the number of implants.

Single Tooth Dental Implants

Dental implants are a popular cosmetic & functional tooth replacement option with a success rate of around 95%. Once you are confirmed as a suitable candidate, our implantologist will place the implant into your jawbone. It will take about 2-6 months for the jawbone to begin regrowth and anchor the implant in place. The implant mimics the tooth root and provides an anchor for a crown which will be secured to the implant itself.

Once the site has healed your dentist will take a digital scan and fit the crown, and you will have a natural looking and fully functional tooth.

Are there any restrictions as to who cannot receive an implant?

Depending on the standard of your current oral health, especially your jawbone, certain precursory treatments such as a bone graft will be necessary.

Your implant surgeon will survey your eligibility for a dental implant procedure at the initial consultation. The implant surgeon will usually request that a high resolution CT Scan is taken of the area for the implant, which is a modern and advanced way of assessing the area in 3 dimensions.

Patients who opt for dental implant surgery are committing to their oral health, so good oral hygiene practises at home, as well as biannual teeth cleanings and dental exams, are essential.

Is there a limit to how many teeth can be replaced with dental implants?

No, dental implants can even replace both arches of teeth. The good thing is that, should you need to replace both arches, you do not have to get individual implants to fill your mouth.

Implant Retained Dentures

Dentures are used to replace full arches of missing teeth, but implant retained dentures have become an increasingly popular option.

The All-on-4^® or All-on-6^® method is used where only 4 or 6 implants are necessary to replace both the bottom and top rows of teeth. These implants then act as anchors for dentures or fixed bridges to replace your smile and keep your jaw strong.
