Root Canal Treatment

A root canal treatment is used to save a severely infected tooth.

The root canal procedure removes the infected soft pulp located in the centre of the tooth, which contains living blood vessels, connective tissues, and nerves.

What causes damage to a tooth’s pulp and nerve?

A cracked or chipped tooth, trauma to the mouth, and deep decay can cause infection of a tooth’s nerve and pulp.

Why does the damaged nerve and pulp need to be removed?

If the infected pulp is not removed, the bacteria can spread throughout the tooth and surrounding structures like the gums, leading to serious health complications.

How do I know if I need a root canal?

If you experience any of the following symptoms, you may need a root canal:

  • Mild to severe toothache
  • Sensitivity to temperature
  • Discolouration
  • Inflammation of the gums
  • Tenderness of the gums

If have you experienced any of these symptoms recently, please contact Pinner Green Dental on 020 8866 0362 as soon as possible.
